The Ant and the Grasshopper

About Aesop:

There's not much details about Aesop's life since he was born in Greece BC, there's not a lot of historical records that can tell us, how he lived or where did he found the inspiration for his fables. Or if they are even his own fables, because in that time, stories were told orally, they were not written like nowadays. We know that he was born as a Slave in 6th Century Greece, BC. But there's not a whole lot of information regarding his life, so it's a mystery even to this day. Historians agree that he told his fables as a way to make the other slaves, forget their troubles and give them hope that one day things will get better, all they have to do is have faith in theirselves.

About Aesop's texts:

All his stories are morals fables, that teaches us a valuable lesson so that we can apply them to our everyday life.

About Aesop's audience:

When he told his fables, he told them to adults but within time, we see that kids have taken a liking to his fables as he uses animals to teach us the lessons that he wants us, the reader to learn.

The ant and the Grasshopper:

Well in this story there's two main characters which are the ant and the grasshopper. They're from very diferent from each other and each have their own way of life. The ant is very dependable, reliable, responsable, hard worker; While the grasshopper is lazy, live like there's not a care in the world, irresponsable, in the end, he's the complete opposite of the ant. In Grosshan's version the roles have been modified, because the Grasshopper has a job, while the Ant is always looking for a stable job, since it's always the first to go when it starts a job and they have to cutback. In Aesop's version there's not much detail about the relationship between these two characters, but on the Grosshan's version, the author indicate that the two were roommates in college and therefore you see that in Grosshan's version they are friends meanwhile in Aesop's version you wonder about are they friends or do they even know each other? For one in my opinion, Aesop's version of the story is the best version since it teaches a valuable lesson which is "Don't leave for tomorrow, what you can do for today". In Grosshan's version the Ant dies in his desk and the Grasshopper dies rich, and for me it's doesn't seem far for the Ant that is more prepare in both stories to have him die the way it did, while the Grasshopper dies better than the hardworking Ant for me it just doesn't seem right, i'm sorry. I'd rather have the Ant die rich and relaxed than having him die in his job. The Grasshopper just needs to do things early and not have to worry about tomorrow. Well that just how i feel about it, hope you guys enjoy my opnion about the story.
